Cheap meters drift fast, and a pH probe wears out in roughly a year or two, so a replaceable probe is worth it. Whatever you pick, buy the calibration solutions too, or the readings aren't worth much. Combo pens cover both pH and EC in one handheld device, while separate meters tend to be a bit more durable.
