Living soil is not an ordinary potting mix. It is a pre-fertilised soil full of active soil life (bacteria, fungi, mycorrhiza and Trichoderma) that releases nutrients to your plant slowly, so you mainly water and keep the soil evenly moist. That is why it has its own place within substrates, apart from cheap light mixes. Most products here come from our own brand Monster Soil by Supreme Horticulture. New to the idea? How living soil differs from a light mix
A standard light mix is a neutral base: you supply all the nutrients with bottled feed and a pH check. Living soil works the other way round: organic matter and soil life do the feeding, the soil buffers the pH, and the base is pre-fertilised. With Monster Soil you just add water and light, and after harvest you can refresh the soil and use it again. See living soil vs coco vs hydro and the cost comparison.
Which Monster Soil fits you
The Homegrow Pot (10.8 L) is ready to use straight from the bag (pot guide). The Concentrate (50 L) is mixed 1:1 with an organic soil base such as BioBizz All-Mix to make about 100 L, or used to refresh used soil (concentrate guide). Water with rainwater or rested tap water and keep the soil evenly moist: how to water, how to reuse and the FAQ. Looking for a classic base? See soil & soil mixes.
