The hand test is only half useful for LEDs. It tells you about heat, but an LED can bleach leaves without feeling hot. Better to watch the plants: bleached or yellow-white top leaves, or tips curling up, mean raise or dim the lamp. Check again after each growth spurt, since the canopy gets closer to the lamp every week.
