Nutrients

How much nutrient should I give per litre?

Short answer

Base nutrients usually land between 1 and 5 ml per litre per part, depending on brand, stage and medium. Never go over the label, and in young plants start at about half of the chart.

There is no single number, because every brand is built differently. A few examples from official charts:

  • CANNA Coco A+B: up to 4 ml/L of each part (1:250), target EC 1.2–2.3 mS/cm including your water, pH 5.5–6.2.
  • Atami B'cuzz Coco A+B: 1–3 ml/L of each part, depending on the stage.
  • Plagron Terra Grow/Bloom: maximum 5 ml/L (1:200) per its label.

Charts differ per medium (soil, coco, hydro) and per stage, so read the one for your set-up. As a rule, start at about half in seedlings and young plants, then work up by a notch every watering or week while watching the plant. Measure EC to see what's actually in the water: a pH/EC meter is the only way to know. Burnt tips mean too much, pale growth means too little. Never go above the label dose.
