Product description
Aptus Substrate Buffer Powder 1 kg – calcium pH buffer for soil and coco
Unstable pH in the root zone is one of those problems that is far easier to prevent than to fix halfway through a run. Aptus Substrate Buffer Powder takes care of it before you plant: micronised calcium that you mix into the medium once, which raises and stabilises the substrate pH for the whole grow.
How much substrate 1 kg treats
Soil needs 50 g per 50 L, or 1 g per litre; coco needs double, 100 g per 50 L. One kilo therefore buffers about 1,000 L of soil or 500 L of coco. That is twenty 50 L bags of soil, or roughly 45 pots of 11 L filled with coco. Plenty for a full tent or a series of runs.
Why growers use it
Next to pH stability, the calcium becomes a steady Ca source for your plants during the grow. It is also a smart way to upgrade used coco so you can run it again. The formula contains no chlorides, ballast salts or contaminants.
In practice
Spread the powder over your substrate in a tub or on a tarp and mix thoroughly before filling pots. A kitchen scale helps you stick to the recommended dose; more is not better here. Need to adjust pH later in the cycle? That is a job for its partner, Substrate Buffer Liquid.
