Duct Connector 400 mm – straight joint for large 400 mm ventilation
400 mm ducting is what you find on central extraction, big inline fans and multi-room set-ups. At this size, replacing a whole run because one section is damaged or a few centimetres short gets expensive. This straight connector joins two 400 mm ducts or fittings, so you only replace or add what you need.
Installing at 400 mm
Large-diameter ducting is stiff and heavy, so it pays to work with two people: one holds the duct in place, the other fits the clamp. Support the line on both sides of the joint so the connector doesn't take the load, and don't rely on tape alone at this diameter. Tighten a hose clamp on each end and then seal the seam with aluminium tape.
How it works
Slide one duct or fitting over each end of the connector and secure both sides with a hose clamp or aluminium tape. An airtight joint matters: any gap lets your extraction fan pull in false air, which costs suction at the filter and in the tent. Run the fan afterwards and feel around the joint for leaks.
A neat, sealed joint keeps the full airflow of a big fan where you want it: through the filter and out of the room.
