Plagron Perlite 60 L – bulk perlite for grow rooms and custom soil mixes
Mixing your own substrate for a full grow room, or using perlite as a hydro medium? The 60 L bag gives you volume to work with and costs less per litre than the 10 L bag.
What it is
Plagron Perlite is 100% perlite: baked volcanic rock, grain size 0–6 mm. Mixed into soil it gives the root zone a better water/air ratio, so roots get oxygen and excess water drains away quickly. With an EC of 0.0–0.1 mS/cm it has no influence on your feed, it's germ-free with the RHP quality mark, and you can also use it on its own as a hydro medium.
What 60 L mixes
At 10–35% perlite, 60 L is enough for roughly 170 to 600 L of finished mix. At 25% you get about 240 L, which fills around twenty 11 L pots.
Working at volume
For big batches, mix on a tarp or in a wheelbarrow and lightly moisten the perlite first to keep dust down; a dust mask doesn't hurt either. Decide on one ratio for the whole room so every pot drains the same and your watering stays predictable. Keep the opened bag closed and dry. Running a hydro set-up? Perlite can also be used on its own as a growing medium.
