Hard water and big reservoirs mean you correct pH every single day, often by more than just a few drops. For grow rooms, several tents or commercial set-ups, the 5 L can of Plagron pH- (59%) holds ten times the 500 ml bottle and cuts the cost per litre.
Why growers use it
It is a strong, concentrated pH down (59%, listed as NPK fertiliser 0-43-0) that brings nutrient water into the 5.5–6.5 range, where plants absorb nutrients in the right proportions in both veg and bloom. It works with all irrigation systems, from hand watering to automated drip.
Handling a 5 L can
Pouring straight from a 5 L can into a reservoir is how overshoots happen. Decant a working amount into a small bottle with a dropper or dosing cap, and keep the can sealed. In automated systems, a pH controller with a dosing pump can draw from the can directly. Always mix your nutrients first, then add pH- in small steps, stir and measure until you reach 5.5–6.5. The amount depends entirely on your water and nutrients, so measure every batch.
Safety and storage
This is a concentrated acid: wear gloves and eye protection when decanting, and store the can upright, closed and out of reach of children. Do not use pH- to fix a pH Plus overdose; that alters your feed's NPK. Mix a fresh tank instead.
