Plastic Plant Stick 1200 mm – rot-proof plant support for grow tents and greenhouses
Once flowers start to put on weight, stems that looked strong in veg can begin to lean. A plastic plant stick of 1200 mm is the length most indoor growers reach for: tall enough to support a plant through flower, short enough to fit comfortably in a standard grow tent under the lamp.
How much support you get
Push the stick about 20 cm into the substrate and roughly 1 m stands above the pot rim. That covers most plants grown under lights, from compact bushes to taller plants trained upwards. In a 2 m tall tent with a 30 cm pot, there is still plenty of headroom left between the top of the stick and the lamp.
Why a coated stick instead of bamboo
These sticks have a steel core with a plastic coating, so they do not rust, rot or turn soft at the base the way bamboo can after a few wet runs. The roughened surface helps ties stay in place. You can wash the sticks after harvest, let them dry and use them again cycle after cycle. They work just as well outdoors in the garden or in a greenhouse.
Setting it up
Insert the stick close to the main stem, ideally when you pot up, so you do not tear through an established root ball later. Tie the plant loosely with soft plant ties or clips, leaving space for the stem to thicken. As flowers develop, add an extra tie higher up and check the old ones every week or so.
