The easiest check is lifting the pot. Water it thoroughly, feel how heavy it is, and water again when it feels clearly lighter. The most common beginner mistake is watering soil on a schedule rather than when it's actually dry, which keeps roots wet and slows growth.
Coco holds air and dries faster, and it's happy to be watered every day once plants are bigger. Seedlings in small pots need much less. A watering setup makes daily coco watering less of a chore, and pots with good drainage matter more than people think.
