How do I take cuttings and clone my plants?

Short answer

Cut a 10–15 cm shoot from a healthy mother plant just below a node, dip it in rooting gel, push it into a wet plug and keep it under a humidity dome at 22–25 °C. Roots usually show in one to two weeks, and cuttings are ready to pot on in about two to three weeks.

Use a clean, sharp blade, cut at an angle, strip the lower leaves, and get the cutting into the gel and plug within a minute so it doesn't dry out. Keep humidity high at first (high, often quoted as 70–90%), then open the dome vents a bit more each day. Light should be gentle: a soft white light or a low-dimmed LED is plenty, not full flower power.

The mistake that kills most clones is too much water around the stem base. Keep plugs damp, not soaking. Our propagators cover the dome part, with Clonex gel and coco plugs to start.
