Water, pH & EC

What is the ideal water temperature for my plants?

Short answer

Roughly 18 to 22 °C. Colder water slows the roots, warmer water above about 24 °C makes root rot much more likely.

This matters most in hydro and in the nutrient tank, where warm water also holds less oxygen. In soil and coco, plain tap water that is cold from the pipe is worth letting stand a while to take the chill off.

In a cold room a reservoir heater helps; in a hot one, keep the tank off the floor heat and out of the light. A meter that also reads temperature saves buying a separate thermometer.
